Foot rails can enhance the look of any bar whether it's in a commercial or residential space. They're perfect rest areas for the feet. They provide comfort to guests enjoying a wonderful time or simply relaxing with friends and loved ones after a long and busy day.
Contrary to what some people may think that this bar foot railing entails a complex process during installation, they are actually easy to install. It can even be a do-it-yourself project that any homeowner can accomplish in less than an hour especially if the space is not too big.
Bar foot railings are made from different materials such as brass, stainless steel and wood. Brass, however, is the most widely used in bars. Homeowners planning to install bar foot railings also need to know that these fixtures are made up of several parts. They are the tubing or main railing, brackets and end caps. The tubing is the pole where people rest their feet while at the bar. The brackets provide the support to the tubing and are screwed to the floor as well as to the bar. The end caps are coverings placed at the end of the tubing. An elbow will also be needed to hold the tubing at the corner area.
The parts of the bar foot rails can be ordered to fit any type of bar. What's important is you get the proper measurements of the area first before placing your order.
In measuring, cover all sides of the bar where you want to install the foot rail. It would be a good idea to make a sketch of the bar and write down the measurements for the railing for each section or side to get a clearer picture. Also, it would be better to order tubing a few inches longer than your measurement than to have one that falls short of the actual and correct measurement. You can always cut off the excess part when necessary.
For installation purposes, you will need several tools such as an electric drill, Phillips screwdriver, a saw, file and channel lock pliers. As you're ready to install, make sure that the plastic covering of the tubing remains until you're done to protect the finish from scratches.
If you need to cut off the tubing, double check your measurement and cut it before installing the bar foot rail. The next step is to measure the area where your brackets will be placed and mark it right away with a pencil.
Now you can loosely assemble the brackets and the tubing but the brackets will have to be installed first. Attach them on the wall one by one and secure them by mounting the screws.
Next step is to secure the loose bar foot railing to the brackets using the setscrews. The last step is to attach the end caps and that's it, you're done.
