Creator of TV's 'Hee-Haw,' John Aylesworth dies at 8
John Aylesworth, a television writer and producer who co-created the long-running comedy-variety show 'Hee Haw,' died Wednesday in Rancho Mirage, Calif. He was 81.

"Smile you're on candid camera" as the quote from the TV show used to say.

Few of us realize that we are on that "candid camera" constantly. Every day we are watched by other people and we in turn watch them. Isn't it true, that when you walk into a store and the sales representative gives you a grouchy look, you know not to ask her a question. This also goes for the customer that comes in grouchy and uptight looking and the sales rep is afraid to ask you if you want help... it doesn't take much to show how you are feeling when there is a frown on your face. Laughter and friendly communication are wonderful assets.

True things are not always so wonderful and we all have our days when things don't go our way. Can we change what happens - NO, can we accept what happens, NOT ALWAYS, but can we try to make a situation better by showing our not so negative expressions. Believe me there have been days when I wanted to scream and be heard. It is not always easy to make light of a bad situation, but we can try to make it a little better by treating people nice and showing it in our expressions and mannerisms.

Smiling is one of the things I remember about my Dad... no matter what went wrong, he always tried to make the problem seem less when he smiled and laughed. He especially liked to tell jokes. He came over from Sicily when he was 13 years old. He had a hard life. He had to quit school to help support his mother and sisters. Singing was one of his favorite pastimes. Especially opera... he would always sing when he was working hard and he had a wonderful smile. People use to say to me when I got older, "doesn't he ever have a bad day?" I use to reply, "he had a hard life and if he does have a bad day you would never know it."

I miss his smile, his wonderful sense of humor and love of his family and friends. So smile and be kind to all you know. We only come this way once, so make it the one time you will remember. "Nothing Leaves An Impression Like A Lasting One"...
