Getting all the last minute details handled before the wedding can be a monumental task. Hopefully, you are not in the final countdown just yet, so that you can make some relaxed, but well informed decisions regarding a wedding knife and cake server. If you happen to be in the "OH...we are getting married next week, and we forgot those last minute, but vital purchases..." then you may have to do some thinking that is going to involve getting right to the heart of the matter. But never fear, you are capable.A few questions you might ask when planning the details surrounding your cake.
* What kind of cake are you thinking about? Fancy...Simple? Double tiered, triple, quadruple...larger? Do you want real flowers on it? What about figurines? Did you want it to taste good? Are you going to cut it with some respectful style, or are you the "shove it in their face kind of couple"? Are you going to serve it to the guests, or save it for the first anniversary, or both
* Have you already decided on who will be making the cake? Sometimes, a family friend who decorates cakes on the side can make one, and it will most likely be more cost effective. It also gives the advantage of those personal touches that only a friend would know about. I grew up in a mountainous region with trees, lakes, big skies. My husband-to-be enlisted my aunt to make the cake. Tiny pine trees, and a lake(mirror) on the cake were an expression of things familiar to me. It was beautiful. At a recent wedding I attended, a sister of the groom, made darling clay figurines that told the story of the couple's courtship and their particular interests.
* Cost: Have you decided on a budget for the cake and the server set? Have you shopped around to see what you can afford? Have you personally seen the work someone does, or have you just looked at pictures in a book. Is the person you have employed rigidly traditional, or will they create according to your ideas, style, and taste?
* Server Set: Once you have made some basic decisions on the cake, choosing a server set comes a lot easier. Find something that matches the cake and your particular tastes. There are gold and silver plated sets, pearl handled ones, simple and basic, heart shaped, etc. You can get them engraved with your names and the wedding date. You may want to choose a style that will stay in style for generations and give it as wedding memento to pass down to a future child for their special day.
Whatever you choose, remember that it is often those tiny, extra touches that can really add some class to the occasion.

Read More ...Introduction Some 15,000 years ago Ireland was completely covered in ice. The large sheets of ice and deep rugged glaciers would have made any chance of life impossible. As the ice started to melt, various lakes formed and vegetation and plant life started to return. As the ice continued to melt, more rivers and lakes started to form and as the weight of the ice shifted, the land started to rise. Some 10,000 years ago and up to around 5000 BC, when the warm conditions began to stabilise, Ireland was introduced to an immigration of animals and new plant life. Trees especially flourished including the juniper, willow, Scots pine, elm, ash, alder and oak. There would have been many wild...
