Joanne Borgella is a singer, songwriter, actor, and the 2005 Mo'Nique's Fat Chance
winner...a beauty contest/reality show on the Oxygen Network to become Miss F.A.T.
(Fabulous and Thick). But now Hoboken's Borgella is looking to win the biggest contest in
the world after qualifying for the final 24 of this year's season of American Idol.
Joanne is used to performing in front of large crowds after performing one of the toughest
songs to belt out of all, The National Anthem, at Madison Square Garden before a sold-out
crowd at the Big East Men's Basketball Championships last year.
"I've been told many times that I'm too big and will
not make it in the music industry, but I believe in myself and have an incredible support
system, Borgella told Plus Model Magazine. "My family is so supportive of me that I
have been able to stand on my beliefs. I have a lot of faith that God will see me through
any situation."
See Borgella perform again on American Idol next Tuesday, February 12th at 8:00 PM on FOX.
