Truly A Super (Sauced) Sunday
Joe Concha
Here's Realhoboken.com's ten best places to watch the Giants-Pats Super Bowl this Sunday
in no particular order or ranking.
Our prediction?
Pats 41
Giants 31
Hey, at least we'll cover the spread, right? Duffy's
239 Washington Street
OK, so the head bartender looks like Jon Favreau in "The Break Up", but no one
pours drinks faster than Chris Halleron. Tip him well and enjoy the themes of blue and red
(both teams wear the same colors, duh):
$2 Bud, Bud Light, Miller Lite, Pabst Blue Ribbon Drafts, $3 Bud, Bud Light, Miller Lite
Bottles
New York Fans: $4 Blue Moon, Wes Welker fans: $4 Sam Adams/Magic Hat
New England Clam Chowder (say CHOWDER!) and New York hot dogs available as well.
Genius...
The Quays
310 Sinatra Drive
Very few bars in town have a friggin' 103' Projection TV, at least one that wasn't made in
the 80s. Overall, it's $40 per person. But for three hours of access to an open bar, I
have a feeling you'll spend a bit more than that over that time period anyway at a cash
bar. They'll also have a buffet to coat that sensitive stomach when Eli finally starts
throwing it to the wrong team.
Black Bear
205 Washington Street
Don't they have something like 50 TVs? Oh right, they really DO have 50 TVs. After Super
Sunday you'll be Super Hungover after downing $9.99 pitchers of Bud Light or drafts of
Smithwick (pronounced Smith-ICKS) or Blue Moon (nicknamed Big Blue Moon for one day) for
three measly bucks. They'll also have a perfectly legal box pool for all those looking to
enter, but make sure you're there by 4:00 PM to get in.
Texas Arizona
76 River Street
I love the place and especially its burgers so we'll mention it (teeth are only
mysteriously found in the food when agenda-driven bloggers named Perry decide to do
"objective" reviews on the joint).
But c'mon fellas...you're the official home of the Steelers Fan Club of Hoboken. In honor
of the black and gold, you should close down for the day or play highlights from Super
Bowl XL, IX, X, XIII or XIV.
Anywho, it costs $20.00 to get in (no drink special, but they will have a buffet, yes, a
buffet running throughout the game). Buy your tickets in advance as they are going
quickly. And fitting for Super Bowl Sunday, Texas/Arizona will be giving away Nets and
Devils stuff at halftime. And look at that, they also have a 103' HDTV. Guess they're more
common than I originally thought.
Liberty
Bar
61 14th Street
Where does Eli and his college sweetheart/fiancee go to watch games when he isn't playing?
Liberty Bar, of course. They have TVs everywhere (except
the bathroom, which I've been telling them for years to install above the stalls) and
feature $3.00 Coors Light drafts. Overall, it's a stadium-like atmosphere and the closest
thing to actually being at the game.

Mulligan's on First
159 1st Street
You have to admire the philosophy of this bar, which is basically to get its patrons as
bombed as legally possibly for the lowest prices in town.
We'll keep it short: $2 pints, $8.00 pitchers. Free (drumroll) buffet.
On 2...ready, break!

Quiet Woman
557 1st Street
Always keeps it simple. Cash bar. Another G-damn 103' projection TV (are they giving these
away somewhere?), and a free halftime (dramatic pause) buffet.
Drink. Watch game. Go home. Nice.

McMahon's Brownstone Ale House
1034 Willow Ave.
For those having zero intention of going to work on Monday, MBAH is offering $2.00 shot
specials. Thank Allah that driving to and from bars in Hoboken isn't really an option.
O'Donoghues on First
205 First Street
Very Mulligans-esque: $2 domestic pints from open to close and $6 domestic pitchers all
day and night, plus free wings. Call the bartender Chris a dork/loser/has-been and receive
$1.00 off one domestic pint (he may look at you strangely upon doing this).
Green Rock Tap & Grill
70 Hudson Street
Super bowl XLII Specials: Well, they have...OK, who really cares? Hot, young, morally
bankrupt women (like, the born in 1986 variety) go there and its always packed with some
of the more hard-core drinkers in town. And if you plan on basing your decision on where
to go by weighing the difference between $3.00 vs. $2.00 drafts, it's time to rethink your
investment strategies. Really.
Remember, it's not whether you win or lose...it's how you play the (social) game. And in
Hoboken at around 6:30 on Sunday night, it might as well be New Year's in Times Square as
the clock strikes midnight.
