Escape Evasion Hack
So what do you do when that person you have been chatting to online or that your best friend says is the best thing since Tom Cruise, the one who is good looking, makes you laugh and appears really nice, arrives at your first date and as they get out of the car you think 'oh no'?
You could always make a dash for it, but 'oh no' yet again, it's too late and you have been spotted - maybe it was the red carnation that gave the game away?
So putting a brave face on, you shake hands and start chatting whilst thinking about how you escape within a reasonable timeframe - without appearing to be the Wicked Witch of Dating?
Well regrettably waving a magic wand does not appear on my list to get you out of there! But here are a few tips to consider before the first date which might just help:
1. Although it would be lovely to go for a five-course meal at the restaurant of your dreams, if you find yourself with someone who is not your cup of tea then I suggest you make your first date a simple coffee. The choice is yours, half an hour of polite chat or indigestion?
2. In advance of that coffee I simply used to drop into a conversation, whether by phone or email, that it was "so convenient as I'm meeting Jane Bloggs and we are off to see that film afterwards", making sure I knew what films were screening of course.
3. Another trick was to get someone to call me having so-say 'broken down'. Whether that was a car break down or an emotional one I will leave up to you! This is a frequently used escape ploy, so you may want to think carefully about the reason for dashing off a little carefully if you want to appear genuine.
4. Alternatively, and you have to be brave for this one, start talking very loudly about something embarrassing! When my partner was on the dating scene, he came across a female who sat happily in the middle of the pub talking very loudly about some of her bedtime exploits! He made his escape pretty rapidly - or so he says!
Finally, do remember that nearly everyone has feelings, so it is maybe best not to give your date the impression you think he or she is the best thing since sliced bread only to leave them with an empty void of silence thereafter. Simply let it be known that it was good to meet them and leave it at that. Alternatively you may end up with numerous emails or phone messages until they get the message.
Oh, and don't forget, there will be the amazingly delicious dates you'll enjoy hugely, so these tips are simply to have up your sleeve just in case!
