Food contamination can affect anyone. It is not rare to hear stories of food products being recalled because they became contaminated with dangerous bacteria or chemicals, often after killing or seriously harming several people. Safety procedures, such as sanitation and sterilization, are standardized and required by law. In addition, restaurants and food producers are required to follow strict refrigeration and storage procedures to ensure bacteria do not spread and to prevent other forms of contamination.
