Charity Tooze: World Refugee Day Illustrates Global Refugee Crisis
World Refugee Day is the one-day of the year created to draw the world's attention to the most vulnerable and disenfranchised people - refugees. According...
The application 'Selective Twitter Status' (now called Selective Tweets) allows you send certain Tweets, chosen by you, to Facebook. This is useful if you want to share some Tweets on Facebook and not others. Adding it to your Facebook profile is easy enough following the apps' online instructions. (To find the app. just log in to Facebook and type 'Selective Tweets' in the search box, then click the link on the left to add the app. to your profile or page)
Some people (myself included) hit a snag when trying to add the app. to their Facebook Fan pages. It is worth noting that this app. has been updated and many bugs have since been worked out. It might still be helpful to share this process because some people found it helpful and, since the problem seemed to be with Facebook rather than the app. itself, it may be relevant in helping to resolve similar issues with adding apps to Facebook Fan pages.
The problem was that I kept getting an error message to 'grant permission'. When I clicked on it to try and proceed, it told me I had already granted permission. I was stuck in a frustrating loop that took a whole weekend to figure out. Facebook said 'no for permissions...' and every time I tried to grant permission it said I had already granted permission... aaargh!
So trusting what developer Andy Young ( @andyy ) said: "115,000 users can't be wrong", I figured there's just something I'm missing.
First I disabled the app. on my profile myself (even though the app. flagged up a message which read: 'temporarily disabling profile permissions', this proved not to be the case) To do this:
Go to your profile page..
click settings (top right)
choose 'application settings'
>'selective twitter status' (Selective Tweets)
>edit settings
>additional permissions
>publish recent activity
>uncheck the box
THEN LOG OUT OF FACEBOOK AND WAIT 5 MINS (as per Andy's suggestion 'for the buggy Facebook program to re-set'!)
LOG-IN and GO TO YOUR FAN PAGE...
in left-hand column click 'edit page'
>scroll to app (if it's not here then you didn't add it and there's your problem. Go to http://www.facebook.com/apps/application.php?id=115463795461 Click 'add to my page' and then continue from LOG IN above)
>Click Edit
>Click Tab: 'Your Fan Pages'
> NOW it should say permission granted 'no' and when you click 'grant permission' it takes you to a fresh page... choose permissions for your Fan page and hey presto!
The key seemed to be: disabling the app. manually, and then logging out of Facebook completely, and allowing it to reset. This was a frustrating problem but the above steps finally worked... I had to walk away a few times because the loop was driving me crazy!

Should we or shouldn't we? That's the question on everybody's mind. After all, it is the taxpayer's money that could potentially save the three auto giants (Ford, Chrysler and GM) from bankruptcy. The 1979 bailout for Chrysler does indicate a "yes" decision won't be regretted. However, many skeptics are on the fence regarding Chrysler. The auto circle is in the know about its owner's deep pockets, so...

Pocket knives as the name suggests is a knife that fits in your pocketPocket knives as the name suggests is a knife that fits in your pocket, and it also folds in to its handle. Normally these knives are no lager that five inches. But on occasion they can be bigger. These small knives have been used for many things. Things such as wood carving, letter openers, to cut fruits and vegetables , and for hunting. Some people have used them to clean under there finger nails but I would suggest not doing that.
