Make absolutely no mistake, Marine Boot Camp Parris Island is the most grueling boot camp of any branch in the United States military. Going there without any previous research or training would be suicide, and tons of people fail out every year for exactly that reason. You need a guide to tell you what to expect before you head to the island. Here are three tips to help you survive USMC boot camp.

1)      Get fit physically beforehand. REALLY fit.

Fitness training in boot camp is very difficult, and the USMC camp is the worst one of all. You need to be able to perform some serious physical feats to get through it, and average fitness won't cut it. There are minimum fitness levels you need to pass, but learn early that drill instructors don't look kindly on people who just meet minimums. So train to excel.

2)      Get fit mentally beforehand. REALLY fit.

Mental toughness is more important than physical toughness. The human body can only endure so much abuse and the DI's know that. They won't actually break your body, but they will break your mind. The best thing you can possibly do is to learn to channel negative thoughts into motivation. Learn to look at USMC BC as an opportunity to prove yourself, not as an obstacle to get past.

3)      The drill instructors job is to break you down. Don't let them.

The drill instructors have a few jobs. They're there to teach you things, like fitness, marksmanship, etc. But possibly their most important job is to weed out the weaklings and quitters, and believe me, they're good at their jobs. They will do everything they can to try and ensure only the best make it through, and that the weak go home. Don't let them succeed. Make it a point of pride to ensure they fail at breaking you.

Going in with these simple but effective tips will give you a definite advantage over the loads of people who go in without a clue, but don't think you know everything. There is a lot more to know about boot camp at Parris Island, and you'd be smart to try and find a complete guide to ensure you're ready for everything. Remember though, physical toughness is nothing without mental toughness. There are many ways to break a man, and the DI's know them all. So be prepared.

Marked Camillus Mark

Piper Aircraft Incorporated began operation in the year 1930, after William T. Piper acquired the assets of the then bankrupt Taylor Brothers Aircraft Corporation. Taylor Brothers unexpectedly filed for bankruptcy, and Piper saw it as an opportunity to further develop a line of aircraft. Piper never envisioned that 30 to 40 years later, he would see the Piper Arrow aircraft manufactured with much higher specifications than the earlier models like the Piper Cub and Piper Cherokee. In 1967, The Piper Arrow 180 hp aircraft was introduced to the market. It was also referred to as the PA-28R-180 model. It certainly served its purpose as a light aircraft at the time. However, it never really...
