Fresh violence in Kyrgyzstan as humanitarian crisis grows
OSH, Kyrgyzstan -Fresh violence including artillery fire flared in Kyrgyzstan Tuesday as thousands desperate to flee ethnic clashes pleaded in vain to pass through the sealed border into Uzbekistan.

In 1978 the great American icon that is the Chevy Corvette turned 25 years old. While everyone was anticipating a limited edition to commemorate the Silver Anniversary, no one anticipated what was to come; two limited editions for the 1978 model year.

Before Bill Mitchell officially stepped down from his post at GM he would make the suggestion that the Silver Anniversary Corvette be painted in his favorite color. As it turned out that color was silver which just so happened to fit perfectly for the theme and thus the B2Z option package was born.

The limited edition 25th Anniversary paint was really little more than some striping, but it would prove to be a popular option. This special edition Corvette would be the first Vette to feature a two tone paint job since the 1961 rendition. The silver paint of the limited edition was on top of a brilliant gray and separated by a pin stripe. While the option was not all that expensive for Chevy to produce, they added a nice mark-up to the buyers tab.

The Silver Anniversary Vette also came with aluminum wheels and special mirrors that were referred to as "sport" mirrors. Really all this represented was another mark-up that need to be paid by the buyer.

While that special edition was indeed expected, what was a surprise to all those who loved the Corvette was the fact that the Indianapolis 500 would be paced that year by a Corvette and this gave GM another opportunity to cash in on a limited edition. The plan was to make only 2,500 replicas of the official pace car which would be 100 for each of the first 25 years of the Corvette. However, Chevy quickly realized that the number would not fly as they were near 6,200 dealerships nationwide. What was ultimately decided was that each dealership would receive at least one for the showroom which meant that the number of 6,200 would make up almost 15 percent of all the Vettes sold for the 1978 model year. While it was a special edition, the Corvette pace car replica of 1978 didn't prove to be much of a "limited" edition.

In the same manner as the Silver Anniversary edition, the pace car replica was sold as on option package tagged RPO Z78. Its main distinction would also be two tone paint only in this version it was black over silver paint all separated by a red stripe. Each pace car replica also featured a spoiler on the front (similar to the Trans Am) and rear to give it further distinction. The interior would see all sorts of silver and gray accents that blended flawlessly to make a really nice look.

Even though the pace car replica was considerably more than the standard Vette on the sticker they all sold for over list price as they looked like an instant classic. This prompted the imposters to come out of the woodworks and had many 1978 Vette owners transforming their regular Vettes into pseudo pace car replicas.

While not the best special editions that Corvette had made any means they were nonetheless considered a success, especially the pace car replicas. This would leave many simply chomping at the bit in anticipation for the next special edition Corvette to come out and it showed the GM folks that they could indeed have two special editions in the same model year.

Buying Sniper Rifles to Tip the Scales of Hunting

Sniper rifles are used not just for military purposes but also for hunting. The telescopic lens can help the hunter track and pinpoint the target quarry. The design of the sniper rifles can help the hunters to position themselves and shoot the game without becoming detected. There are many different types of rifles which are used for sniper purposes.

These sniper rifles are not confined to one country only. They are also designed to cater for different caliber bullets. For this reason if you feel that a sniper rifle will be of more help in your hunting it may be wise if you look these different rifles over carefully. The first factor for your choosing sniper rifles is that of the design and telescopic lens.

When you hold this rifle and any other sniper rifles in your hands the balance of the rifle should be perfect. You shoulders and arms should not be aching from holding the rifle in the position you desire. As most sniper rifles have telescopic lens you should have the ability of detaching the lens whenever you want. The lens itself should be in excellent condition.

As there are hunters who prefer to do their hunting in the nighttime the sniper rifles which has night vision telescopic lens will help them to see the night roaming game. The other factors you should think about when you are considering buying one of the types of rifles is the smooth trigger action you will get.

Like with the ordinary rifles sniper rifles come in similar action triggers. You will be able to select from bolt acti

Seacrest's stalker gets two year prison sentence
Chidi Uzomah Jr., a special forces reserve for the U.S. Army, was charged with a felony count of stalking and two misdemeanor counts of violating a court order in November after he pulled out a knife and threatened staff at Seacrest's Los Angeles office.

Porter's Five Forces model was developed in 1979. The model summarizes the 5 factors, which affect the performance of a company by five forces. These 5 forces are as follows:

1. Bargaining power of customers;

2. The threat of potential entrants;

3. Bargaining power of suppliers;

4. Threat of substitute products;

5. The intensity of intra-industry competition.

The weight of Porter's Five Forces determines the ability of firms involved to make a profit. If all forces are high, profits will be limited. Conversely, if the forces are weak, it is theoretically possible to generate a significant profit. The essential point is therefore to prioritize these forces so as to identify the key success factors in the industry, that is to say, the strategic elements that must be mastered to gain a competitive advantage.

The bargaining power of customers

The main influence of customers on a market occurs through their ability to negotiate. According to Porter's Five Forces, influence on the price and sales conditions -- terms of payment and associated services -- determine the profitability of the market. The concentration level of their customers pay more or less power; few clients facing many producers have greater opportunities to trade (e.g. supermarkets). The power of customers is even greater than the products are standard and there are substitutes readily available (cost of switching down).

In Porter's Five Forces, the power of customers is high when:

* They are concentrated

* Suppliers are numerous and dispersed

* There are sources of supply substitution

* The cost of transfer is low and predictable (when the customer changes supplier)

* There is a threat to integrate backwards from the customers

The bargaining power of suppliers

In terms of cost or quality, the ability of suppliers to impose conditions on a market has a direct impact and is proportional to the customer. A small number of suppliers, a strong brand, highly differentiated products are all factors that increase the cost of switching and therefore the power thereof.

The threat of substitutes

According to Porter's Five Forces, substitutes are not part of the market, but represent an alternative to offer. It may be of different products to meet the same need (e.g.: MP3 download / Compact Disc) or product affect demand (electric vehicles / fossil fuels). The substitutes are characterized by a cross-elasticity is positive. In fact, the increased price of a good cause therefore increasing the quantity sold of each other.

The intensity of competition within the sector

In Porter's Five Forces, competitors struggle within the industry to increase or simply maintain their position. There are between firms in the balance of power more or less intense, depending on the strategic nature of the sector, the attractiveness of the market, its development prospects, the existence of barriers to entry and exit, the number, size and diversity of competitors, the importance of fixed costs, the possibility of achieving economies of scale, character banal or perishable goods, etc.

The threat of potential entrants

Porter's Five Forces states that the arrival of new competitors is influenced by barriers to entry, the initial investment required, tickets, patents already in place, standards, protectionist measures, the image of the industry and companies already established, cultural barriers, technical standards, etc.. All these facilities make entry more difficult for another firm. Behavior of actors in the sector (eg retail, automotive - is the last in Tucker in the 1930s).

The role of government

Although the government does not appear explicitly in Porter's Five Forces, its influence is taken into account and can affect each of the five forces. Policy and legislation implemented to determine how effective each of the forces exerted on the market. For example, the entry may be subject to approval or conversely be subsidized. This analysis tool is still questionable

Using a concrete model of Porter's Five Forces in businesses

The objective of this model is to identify key success factors of the environment, i.e. the strategic elements that must be mastered in order to obtain a competitive advantage. For this it is necessary to prioritize the 5 forces to determine what strategic actions should be undertaken first.

Reviews of the Five Forces Model

The 5 Forces Model is the basic tool of analysis of environmental strategy. It is however criticized for several reasons:

* It is based on a rhetoric of confrontation (strength, power, etc..) Which focuses on threats as opportunities and leaves little room for collaboration strategies.

* It implies that the strategy is basically to adapt to environmental conditions, precluding approaches based on the resources and skills that emphasize endogenous vision of success.

* It can be completed: some authors (notably in continental Europe) add a sixth force, government influence. This is known as model 5 (1) forces. Porter himself said in later writings the role of supplements (e.g. software industry for microcomputer).

* Each business case is specific. It is necessary to integrate the application in the enterprise model of 5 forces a hierarchical order of importance as the business of the company.

* Also note that this tool is only applicable to large companies and SMEs to large (at least 300 people), it becomes unrepresentative if not useless for small and small SMEs.

U.S. Army Orders Huge Airship to Aid Combat Missions

Shoot wrestling is a relatively new Japanese combat sport that began in the 1970s and had its origins in Japan's Pro Wrestling circuit. This sport employed more full contact moves at the time since they wanted to add more excitement to this sport. The term "Shoot Wrestling" is derived from the term Shoot which means any unrehearsed occurence that happens within any rehearsed wrestling match. This term was widely used in the United Kingdom however they called it Catch Wrestling. Catch Wrestling was common at the end of the 19th Century.

Shoot Wrestling is a broad term and can be used to describe a myriad of Hybrid Fighting Systems like Shoot Boxing as well as Shoot Fighting. There were also several Martial Arts Styles that had great influence on this Combat Sport. Greco-Roman Wrestling, Muay Thai and Judo were just a few of them. One of the most highly touted figures in this sport was a man named Karl Gotch. He was able to find some success in American Wrestling. However it wasn't until he visited Japan that the beginning of this sport sprang to life.

Billy Riley was a very well known Catch Wrestler who was the owner of the Snake Pit Gym where Karl was a student. Karl Gotch mastered Catch Wrestling here. He also went to India to learn Pehlwani. The status that Karl received in Japan was legendary and took on the name of Kamisama which means the God of Wrestling. In 1984, a lot more wrestlers wanted to get involved in a more competitive style of this sport. This is how and why the Universal Wrestling Federation or UWF was formed.

The UWF played a major role in promoting Shoot Style Wrestling. What this Self Defense discipline is based on is applying certain Martial Arts Movements with lots of force. The UWF also coordinated and promoted some MMA Matches. This allowed Combat Sport Athletes to test their styles and compare them with opponents with other Martial Arts Backgrounds. The UWF eventually broke up. After it did, variations of Shoot Wrestling were broken off and amalgamated with several other Self Defense disciplines.

Murphy Bed Mounting Options: Floor Vs. Wall

Floor Mounting

Mounting to the Floor

Some systems require that the unit be drilled into the floor of the room. These are generally systems that rely on spring mechanisms. Mounting a Murphy bed unit into the floor provides grounded stability and truly makes your Murphy bed a fixture in your home, but it is important to note the long-term effects of mounting on your floor. Most floor-mount systems call for a solid mounting surface, requiring any carpeting to be cut away which can permanently damage your floor. In addition to marking your floors, floor mount systems are difficult, if not impossible to move once installed.

The “False Floor” Option

There are several Murphy bed manufacturers that offer a “false floor” option, where the Murphy bed is attached to a specifically cut piece of plywood, which is then attached to the wall or baseboards. This option is ideal for those who have settled on a Murphy bed requiring floor mounting, but want to preserve the appearance of their flooring.

Wall Mounting

Mounting to the Wall

Systems that require the Murphy bed be mounted to the wall are most commonly used with piston mechanisms. Mounting to the wall provides a much less permanent fixture in your home, as wall mount systems can be easily moved and incur very little damage to the structure of your room. The most common way in which a Murphy bed is mounted to the wall is by locating three studs, and then attaching the back panel of the Murphy bed to those studs with the use of a drill. Utilizing studs in your wall creates a stable foundation for your Murphy bed. It also allows you to reposition your Murphy bed if need be later on.

Different Wall Types

When deciding on a wall mounted Murphy bed, take into consideration the wall you will be using. Is the wall made of sheet rock, concrete or bricks? While most manufacturers provide solutions for all types of walls, certain wall types will require additional installation steps. Deciding between floor mount and wall mount styles of Murphy beds, and how they best fit into your home is an important choice. Be sure to investigate all of your options early on in your decision making process, and when you have decided which style is right for you, you will be one step closer to enjoying your Murphy bed.
