When you think of battlefield you think of soldiers - countless brave men and women in army clothing fighting for freedom and justice and the same lying on the ground who died for honour. To have the courage to wear the military uniform and being aware of your duties and responsibilities is indeed hard. But battlefield and war aren't the only place for soldiers in situations and places where help is needed there they are.

During the siege of hurricane Katrina in the United States, the army extended efforts and contributions. Usually in relief operations for natural disasters the nation only relies on the National Guard for assistance. New Orleans was underwater and extensive damage was seen all over Florida, Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana. The army mobilised it reserve group to aid the distressed areas. Never in the past years have the country witnessed army clothing amidst the suffering people like what they usually see in war.

The army offered help mostly in carrying food and water for the victims in hard to reach areas. It was also rare to see cooks dressed in army clothing as the armed forces volunteered cooks in the downtown. These unselfish men and women provided foods for thousands of volunteers from different places and agencies. Seeing your fellowmen suffer from the aftermath of the natural disaster must've been hard for the soldiers so when opportunity called for them to offer assistance, they didn't waste any time.

In the recent quake disaster in Haiti soldiers in army clothing have played a major role. To take part in the relief operations, the United States deployed soldiers to distribute food, clear rubbles, and offer medical care. 20,000 soldiers were sent to the earthquake stricken country. The soldiers were both in land and water looking for chances to save lives. The military equipment and the skills of the soldiers came especially helpful in the situation.

Security threats don't only come in forms of armed conflict or terrorisms but from calamities as well. Any form of deprivation of a normal and peaceful way of living is seen as a threat. It is one of the principles and values embodied by our fellowmen dressed in army clothing. So even if what the soldiers were doing in Haiti can be done by civilians and other volunteers they didn't let the opportunity pass without offering their help - especially if they saw the need for some.

I have nothing but great respect and admiration for people who have the guts and unselfishness to wear the army clothing. They offer not only their time in fulfilling their duties but their selves. Not only in situations asking for force but more of those asking for everybody's help.

We all love some magic tricks and being able to do them yourself and baffle your friends is even better. Here are two very easy to do magic tricks that you can do using just a pack of playing cards.

First up, try the following magic trick.

Right, this is a very simple trick and it simply involves a little bit of sleight of hand and misdirection in order for it to succeed. Get together an audience (or your video camera if you fancy becoming a YouTube star) and then get one person from your audience to pick a card out of your deck of cards. When they are memorising the card then you simply need to be turning over the card that is at the bottom of the deck. It will then be facing the other way and you should turn the pack over so that it appears as a regular pack of cards. That's where the misdirection comes in - you obviously don't want your audience to see you doing that essential part of the trick. Now get them to put the card back into the deck and then tell them that you are going to magically discover the card they chose. Simply put the card behind your back and then turn the top card back over. Tell them that the card they chose has been flipped the other way around and then let them check through the deck to find it.

You can next try this one.

This is an equally simple to do trick that employed the same sort of tricks to confuse your audience. Simply shuffle up the cards and then have a quick look at the card at the bottom. Now drop the cards from the bottom to the floor one by one and tell someone to say stop when you have gotten to about ten. Now pick up the cards you have dropped and pile them up, making sure that you place the card that you have memorised (the one from the bottom of the deck) back at the top of the pile. Now show them this card, but do not show yourself and then get them to shuffle the pack. Now simply look through the deck and amaze them as you pick our the card that you memorised.

These two simple tricks will be sure to baffle your friends at the next social gathering you attend.

Online dating is a lucrative business with millions of people visiting these sites every day. It gives a person a chance to meet many new people than you would have imagined. Online dating has given birth to the serial dating phenomena. Just like ordinary dating where the real sweetness of the game is in the chase (at least for a man), the old habit has crept its way into online dating. It is very easy to fall prey, actually it is like any other addiction. In the serial dating phenomena nothing beats the thrill of the chase. The scenario of serial dating is a mind set. A serial dater falls victim of this addictive habit and develops a comfort zone around it. The habit is hard to shed once it is well established. Unless a person changes the mind set and is ready and committed to adopt a new mind set,then its the only chance of redeeming oneself from the addiction.

The acute requirement by the serial dater for newness undermines any chance of establishing a long term relationship. Satisfaction is derived from the thrill of the chase. Once a serial dater has cajoled and successfully convinced a person into a relationship, it marks the beginning of the end. It is weird but the eventual meeting of the two daters is usually the last straw. The relationship becomes lukewarm for the serial dater. It is no longer alluring. There is nothing to look forward to. It offers no thrill. Another search begins in earnest. And the cycle begins again. The new relationship is relegated to the background where it dies a natural death.

Finding yourself in the vicious cycle of serial dating, whether your very own or someone else can be disconcerting. It is a sure recipe of ruining any possibilities of a relationship. Assess your gaols and most importantly your motives as well as the motives of your online serial dater. Do not be disillusioned by dating but rather try and get an equilibrium. Try your level best and identify the motives of the people you meet online. Find out if your initial assessment was correct. Be very keen on their motives as it will give you an early opportunity of raising a red flag by addressing their actual motives. Do not fall victim to the serial dating phenomena. Use your own judgment to establish whether the risk you are about to take is worth all the pain. You can pay attention to your intuition and heed what your instinct tells you.
