Can i bring a pocket knife with me on an airplane ?

I have this swiss army knife that I have and I use it almost every single day. I will be traveling to Vietnam for 29 days and I would like to bring it. It' is about 1.5 inches long and it does have a sharp tip. It also includes a small scissors with a sharp tip aswell, then theres my folding knife with the blade about 3 inches long . are these fine to put in my checked luggage? i dont plan on carrying it on with me through the metal detector and stuff .

In your checked luggage it should be OK, just not forget to put it in before you go to the plane, both directions of travel.

I do not know if there are any laws about knives in Vietnam.

Search for missing plane off N.S. called off
HALIFAX - The military search for two men whose plane disappeared off the northern coast of Cape Breton was called off Saturday afternoon with no sign of the aircraft being found.

Every year, millions of people learn how to fly and end up getting their pilot's license to fly their own personal plane. There are so many different licenses for operating different kinds of vehicles that it can be easy to mix up the different rules and processes. There are driving licenses, motorcycle licenses, boat licenses, plane licenses, and many more. Float planes, however, are a little different in that they require the skills of a float endorsement boat license as well as mass amounts of floatplane training. It could take you well over a year before you are ready to successfully operate a float plane.

Float planes require a lot of practice with depth perception and steadiness of the hand. Float planes are very different from regular planes in that they have to land and take off from a body of water. Water, is not always the same shape and therefore becomes rigid and uneven when something comes flying towards it. One of the hardest things to do is land a plane but try landing a plane on rocky waters. The key to a perfect landing is a smooth glide in and lots and lots of good practice and training. Because landing is one of the hardest parts, it is a big accomplishment when you finally get it.

Another important characteristic of planes to learn when you are learning how to fly them is how they work in the air. You will want to get to know your plane. Understand its weight, its balance tendencies, as well as how sensitive its controls are. Planes can be very different in that, for example, one steering wheel might be very easy to turn, while one might need a bit more pressure. Some planes require a bit more force than others, while some plans are very easy to move and tend to need less management from you, the pilot.

When learning how to fly the plane and when you are taking your actually lessons, it is extremely important that you can learn how to read and follow all of the gauges that the plane has. If there is a gauge with numbers or symbol that you do not understand, that could potentially solve a problem. Therefore, if you are able to learn about them before hand you will be just fine. The major gauges in the plane are the speedometer, the altitude, and the level of the plane. These three gauges are directly in front of you behind the steering wheel.

Though float planes are very different from any other automobile or vehicle you have ever operated, they are still operational if you can learn the tricks of the trade and get your piloting license. Once you learn how to fly them well, you will be out on the water each and every day! Your new float plane will be your new pride and joy and you will be able to take friends and family out on the water, and into the sky!

Connor R. Sullivan recently researched the business of float endorsement company in order to write an article about the subject. His son completed his floatplane training and is eligible to fly.

The Kuiper Belt is like an Asteroid Belt Beyond Neptune

In 1950, the existence of a region of mostly icy objects was predicted by Gerard Kuiper. There have now been about 1300 objects discovered in this region. We can expect many more to be found. An estimate has been made that there are hundreds of thousands of object in this belt over 100 kilometres across and perhaps trillions of smaller ones.

As Mr. Kuiper predicted these objects seem to have a lot of ice in their composition as well as things like Methane and some rock. In fact except for their orbit, they are similar to comets.

Distance from the Sun

The Kuiper Belt is from 35 to 55 Astronomical units from the Sun. (The Astronomical Unit or AU is the distance of the Earth to the Sun.) The Objects of this region are sometimes referred to as Trans-Neptunian Objects.

Short Period Comets

Short period comets are the ones like Halley's Comet that come into the inner Solar System where we can see them and return in less than 200 years. The objects of the Kuiper Belt are generally in stable orbits, but if one their orbits is sufficiently disrupted they can head towards the Sun as short period comets.

Long Period Comets

These are comets with very long return times, so we would have to keep very good records for many centuries or millennia to identify them as the same comet. These are more likely to come from the Oort cloud than the Kuiper Belt.

Steve Challis has Astronomy articles on http://stevechallis.net. This includes an article about Eris, the biggest Kuiper Belt Object so far discovered: http://stevechallis.net/Eris%2C-Our-Tenth-Planet.php.

How To Be Successful As A Model

Is ‘good looks' the only criteria needed to be met to make a successful entry into the modelling world? Maybe that is an interesting question you also should consider evaluating. We may have met many models and modelling aspirants who were very good looking with respect to their various body features. They were not very photogenic, and their physical beauty just did not flash across in their pictures. And, on the same note, you would probably be surprised by the fact that many of the fashion industry's best and brightest print models do not even command a second glance from the onlookers when on the street. Some of them are not in any way especially great looking when met raw and in person, but everything seems to combine together when they stand in front of the camera.

One school of thought is that either type of models, photogenic or not, do enjoy good careers. For instance, one might be perfect for the runway, while the photogenic model might work better for fashion prints and television commercials. The ideal model that is suited for almost any kind of modelling job is rarely seen. Yet even when some model has got all the right physical gifts that seem to be going well with them in a particular field of modeling, it probably will not be enough for these models to make it big there also. So, what does that mean? Barring the looks that are just the beginning, there is a lot more to this aspect. It is all about treating your career in modelling as a business, and not as a hobby. It can be said to be one about harnessing the amazing potential and power of your mind. It will definitely help a person get what he wants as a model.

And it is also about finding out that a model does not have to be physically perfect in order to find success as a model. There were a lot of drop dead gorgeous models, both men and women, who failed to attract long term success. And there is the other group, obviously less stunning models who went on to enjoy stardom and lucrative modelling careers. The difference had more to do with what that has been going on inside their heads. So what does all this mean for you as a model? It is as simple as this; the key to success in the modelling business is partly based on a model's natural physical gifts or features. At least, the factor that is equally important is the way a model uses his or her mind to move forward in their respective careers.

Initially it may take some time to find a good break in this profession, and a model needs to be patient and determined, until success beckons the model. Make it a point to attend all the casting calls and photo shoots. Even though established models sometimes keep people waiting, you being a rookie should not try such antics. With dedication and perseverance, a model can surely succeed.

Can Daimler's Smart Car Survive?
The Smart car has fallen on bad times. The idea must be to hang on until something bigger comes along.

In March this year, the Commission has initiated treaty violation proceedings against Germany directed against section 50 d paragraph 3 of the German Income Tax Act. According to the opinion of the Commission this regulation breaches the principle of freedom of capital movement within the EU. This income tax regulation aims at curtailing the international business practice of treaty shopping, i.e. choosing a jurisdiction offering favorable withholding tax conditions in regard to Germany`s domicile for a holding company. Among such countries are Austria, Cyprus, Denmark, Labuan, Luxembourg, Malta, Madeira, Mauritius, the Netherlands and Switzerland.

The aforementioned regulation provided in national income tax law stipulates that intermediate companies based in a low tax jurisdiction and receiving dividends from a German subsidiary under certain conditions are deemed insubstantial for German taxation purposes. The consequence of being considered a letter box company is a derecognition of the advantages as provided in the Double Taxation Agreement with the respective country.

German law regulates the following criteria any foreign mother company has to comply with in order to be granted the advantages of any DTA:

- there must be a reasonable business interest in maintaining it

- it must maintain an office in the foreign country

- it must employ staff and

- at least 10 per cent of the foreign company`s profits must be gained due to its own operation.

The tightening of the German tax laws was a reaction to a judgement rendered by the German Federal Fiscal Court in 2008. The case submitted to the court was about a Swiss citizen who had established a corporation in Luxembourg in 1992 serving as a shell company for a corporation located on the British Virgin Islands. Over the years a German subsidiary paid 13.600.000 Deutsche Mark in dividends to its parent company in Luxembourg. The German tax office resisted to apply the low withholding tax rate on these transferred income of the subsidiary. It argued that the only purpose of the company structure was the evasion of taxes. Long enduring court actions followed. The German Federal Fiscal Court finally ruled that it were the fiscal authorities that shared the burden of proof for their statements and not the German subsidiaries.

The act revising the German tax law was supposed to make the issue easier for the tax office. However, the EU Commission does not tolerate this national override of the more liberal international law. In particular, it objects against the schematic 10 per cent rule which is of no use for identifying a letter box company. In contrast, this rule could also place an insurmountable hurdle for regular corporate holdings which have not been established for the purpose of tax evasion.

Furthermore, the EU-Commission objects that German law does not allow holding companies who are deemed insubstantial to produce proof of the contrary.

The chances that the action of the EU Commission will succeed is high. In 2004 the European Court of Justice rendered a judgment in this case against England in re Cadbury Schweppes. The company had maintained subsidiaries in Ireland and the British internal revenue service tried to tax their profits whereas the business group wanted to achieve a (significantly lower) taxation in Ireland.

Should Germany be compelled to revise its laws and make it consistent with EU law at least offshore jurisdictions belonging to the EU and the European Economic Area will profit. In the meantime, business who have established such structures are well advised to take legal remedies and defend themselves vigorously against any attempt of the German tax authorities to circumvent international law.

Miniature memories

To assist with a German Shepherds growth they will need lots of walks and toys to keep their brain occupied. German Shepherd dog training makes ticking all these boxes really easy as the disciplining is designed to satisfy the needs of your dog. It will also give you an opportunity to learn more about your dog.

Recognized as one of the more clever breeds of dog he can problem solve and learn very quickly and this quality means they can be trained to work as members of society, helping to complete jobs that we humans cannot as well as making great pets for us at home.

One great illustration of how a dog is used in society today is at the airport where they are used to sniff out contraband in baggage. Another example is they are used to not only physically outrun and catch a wanted man but they have a very strong sense of smell to facilitate finding anyone who is hiding or has disappeared out of sight.

On the flip side though if you don't practice any German Shepherd dog training you'll end up with an unmanageable dog who could become a very serious threat. Although intelligent they come across as been a very intimidating looking pet. To protect you and your home you'll find that anyone who meets your dog will think twice about doing anything to harm you. however you must ensure you take charge of this powerful animal and ensure he doesn't become a danger to himself or anyone else.

The most proven system for teaching your German Shepherd is to make sure that you mark all good behavior with a positive reaction from you. To do this right takes time but you will see results if you keep at it everyday, stay positive yourself and make sure you always mark the good and not the bad.

If you want this to work well then you must make sure you apply these training techniques everyday. and if you only make a start at disciplining and then give up you won't get the results you need. training should always be applied through out your dogs life.

If you would like to learn more about how you can train your German Shepherd or to just get more general information and advice on German Shepherd training you can visit my website here: http://www.obediencetrainingfordogsblog.com/

Cold and glossy, his large pastel canvases are suffocating vacuums of glamour. Working from fashion photos, Collins’s abstracted forms are derived from the overlooked in-between spaces of supermodel spreads. Folds in fabric, creases in elbows, knees and armpits become a pattern of fetishised contemplation.
