Army given new rifles to engage enemies from further away
British troops are to be issued with a new infantry combat rifle for the first time in 20 years to cope with the fierce fighting conditions of the Afghan war.

The Exciting Airsoft Sniper Rifle Part II

The Airsoft Sniper Rifle has become a very popular weapon of choice for the veteran Airsoft warrior. Arguably one of the most powerful Airsoft guns in the industry, the sniper rifle is designed to propel the plastic bbs at a high velocity with stunning accuracy.

It is extremely important for the Airsoft sniper to choose the right rifle. There are several reputable manufacturers who produce different model lines of Airsoft Sniper Rifles. Some with such detail that they are very difficult to distinguish from their real "steel" counterparts.

The Airsoft Sniper Rifle is available to the consumer at a broad price range. Some of the models with the more exquisite detail, and with metal and wood casings can cost well over a whopping 2,000 U.S. dollars!

Made almost completely out of steel and wood, these super expensive models have high quality interior mechanisms that fire the gun. With their heavy feel, long barrel lengths, averaging around 42 inches (1070mm), and with their quality detail, these expensive models are well worth the price to the avid Airsoft player.

The above average cost of the sniper rifle has proven to be a barrier to some enthusiasts. Though the average Airsoft player cannot afford such a high price for a gun, there are some excellent, less expensive models.

These rifles are not in the very expensive luxury category, but nonetheless are still a high quality gun. For a well built model, one can expect to pay around the same price that he would for an automatic electric Airsoft gun (AEG), between two or three hundred U.S. dollars.

The higher quality Airsoft Sniper Rifle is usually made from heavyweight ABS plastic. This heavyweight material is a blend of plastic and metal. The ABS plastic gives the gun a cost effective, realistic heavy feel without the expensive steel manufacturing. The Airsoft Sniper Rifle that is made of this material is generally marked ABS, which usually increases its overall value. Tanaka and Maruzen manufacture the most popular of these models.

It is also important to note that even less expensive Sniper rifles are also available. These guns are made primarily out of plastic, and can usually be purchased for around 100 U.S. dollars. Unicorn Hobby Company (UHC) of Taiwan makes one of the most popular models. This low-end, cheap Airsoft Sniper Rifle model is called the UHC Super 9.

In purchasing a cheap Airsoft Sniper Rifle, one can easily exchange some of the parts for metal or wood at a later time. This not only makes the gun feel and look more realistic, it increases the its overall value.

Most major manufacturers offer upgrades such as metal barrels, custom grips, red light scopes, wooden stocks, laser sights, bi-pods and other accessories. The added expenses of potential needed upgrades must be kept in mind. Although capable of a decent firing experience when initially purchased, in order to be effective in serious war game battles, some upgrades will be needed.

Tokyo Marui of Japan has developed a new Sniper Rifle called the VSR-10. At a manageable price, this rifle works quite well before any upgrades are made.

Choosing the Airsoft Sniper Rifle that accommodates the right budget is certainly very important. No matter the price, these exciting guns are sure to bring great enjoyment to gallant Airsoft warriors everywhere.

Gareth Oakley is a primary school teacher with problems. He is fighting the demon drink and no doubt the mood swings that come with it. He is still pining over his lost true love, now departed. He goes to bed alone in the small house they once shared, a house full of memories of happier times.

When he awakes he has a massive hangover, but that can't be right for he hasn't fallen off the wagon. He hasn't touched a drop. How strange. He opens his eyes and focuses on the ceiling. It's not his ceiling, it's not his house. So where is he? And more to the point, how did he get there? He soon finds that he is not alone, there are many others there too, and the inevitable rivalries rapidly fall into place.

So begins "abducted The Awakening" the first in a promised series of mystery novels from the young Welsh based writer, Lee Cambule.

The book quickly hooked me and I wanted to know more. It is well written throughout and has been scrupulously proof-read, something that publishers large and small could do with spending a little more time and money on. Not here though, for I found nary a spelling mistake or typo anywhere in the work. There isn't a single swear word either, and that made a pleasant change and certainly did not effect the immediacy or power of the book.

There are lots of twists and turns and hooks aplenty to keep the reader interested and guessing. The chapters are nicely spaced and keep the reader wanting to turn the page. Included are a couple of nods to J R R Tolkien and I also found it in places reminiscent of Dan Brown's work.

This book will appeal not only to Sci Fi fans, but also to anyone who enjoys a good mystery or thriller and is suitable for teenagers and upward. It leaves many questions unanswered that no doubt will be addressed in the next of the series "abducted The Betrayal".

This is a very promising debut novel and I certainly enjoyed it and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good mystery. Mister Cambule can certainly write, but more importantly, he has something to say.

Obituaries - June 18, 2010
Donald J. Bainton, 79, Korean War veteran, Greenwich resident and former president of Continental Can Company , died peacefully on June 13, 2010 in Boca Raton, Fla.

When you are on your journey of how to play bass, in my opinion one of the key ways of making progress is to learn challenging lines by bass players you like and admire (which are not necessarily the same thing). Geddy Lee has anchored the bottom end of Canadian power trio Rush for over 35 years now and has produced consistently inventive and demanding bass lines in that period. Here are 5 of them.

1) YYZ

This was originally featured on the Moving Pictures album - which many people think was the highlight of Rush's career. YYZ is an instrumental tune - if you can learn this and reproduce it flawlessly at the tune's performance tempo you can pat yourself on the back, your bass playing is obviously moving in the right direction. This tune has got everything, short solo sections, unison riffs, some laid back grooving and more. 4 minutes of magic.

2. Free Will

For the bulk of the tune the bass line is pretty straightforward - although there are lots of different time signatures to contend with. That all changes with the guitar solo and the lead up to it. What Geddy plays here is almost like they are from another tune - there are 28 bars of 12:8 mayhem that form a great study just on their own.

3. 2112

This is one of my favourite Rush tunes of all time. Learning to play the entire 15 minutes or so of the piece is a masterclass in memory and endurance. Some of the rockier sections of the tune also contain some good material for further development and study.

4. La Villa Strangiato

La Villa Strangiato first appeared on the Hemispheres album - and although that album received general critical acclaim I remember that at the time this tune was considered a bit of an oddity. Over time however it's become a firm fan favourite - and you should definitely check it out. The virtuosity on display from all of the members of Rush is jaw dropping.

5. Malignant Narcisism

This is from the Snakes & Arrows CD and is a short instrumental. The bass line is a fast, hypnotic sounding line that will test your right hand chops to the max.

Summary

Over the course of Rush's career Geddy lee has produced many great bass performances. As well as the 5 listed above there's a wealth of great bass lines in the early Rush catalogue that you could learn and analyze and incorporate into your own playing. The All The World's A Stage live album is in my opinion a great place to sample Geddy's earlier works.

If you want more bass related info, head over to my how to play bass website where you'll find video lessons, articles, reviews and much more. There's also a monthly ezine you can sign up for - in return for signing up you'll get a PDF file with 5 cool bass lines in - and each month's ezine features a bass line in music notation and bass tab.

Going for a spin back in time
A CHERISHED annual test for veterans of the road reaches a landmark of its own tomorrow.

This is the latest (April 2008) Jack Reacher thriller and just as in the previous eleven, Lee Child has written an easy to get into thriller, and one that will have you busting a gut to get through.

There is no doubt there is an element of "Been here before - read this before" to this one, but as someone else wrote, Lee Child could not write a bad book if he tried.

Two towns in Middle America, Hope and Despair, Hope's good, Despair is decidedly odd, and of course Jack cannot depart without investigating why. Throw in the usual pretty woman, this time the policewoman herself, and if you are an avid Jack Reacher reader, you will get the picture.

So it starts, and the writer begins spinning his web.

I admire greatly how every single fact mentioned is later carefully entwined into the story. Mister Child is a very good writer indeed, and one to be studied closely by anyone aspiring to progress as a thriller-type writer.

I know for a fact that Lee Child is responsible for bringing a whole host of new readers to the reading watering hole with this series of books, and anyone who can persuade non-readers to become so, is fine in my book.

If you have read the other Reacher novels I am sure you will like this one too. If you haven't, may be there are better ones out there that you might prefer to begin with, but hey, who cares, once you start reading one, you will want to read more. Either way, this is still a cracking read and money well spent.

David Carter's new novel "The Fish Catcher" tells the story of a group of children evacuated from London during World War II to escape the blitz bombing. It turns into a murder mystery and has been well reviewed. You can check out the first chapter on David's website at http://www.davidcarter.eu

British Pistols Dying Of Old Age by James Dunnigan June 11, 2010
The British Army, underfunded and lacking massive injections of new equipment for several years now, has managed to forge ahead in both Iraq and Afghanistan on its well-deserved reputation for professionalism and discipline.

Leupold have never been lazy when it comes to producing great rifle scopes but their new models are really taking the rifle scope market by storm. Their new VX-III is definitely a scope that is more than worth checking out - even by Leupold standards. Actually, the VX-III replaced the old Vari-XIII line of Leupold rifle scopes and for awhile it had more than one shooting fan upset at the thought that their old favourite was being replaced without much apparent thought.

Testing of the new Leupold scopes revealed that these scopes were more than just show, especially with the VX-III. A lot of changes, some of them major, had been made to improve this already impressive rifle scope. Just a few of these changes included finger adjustable turrets that are much easier to use, an improved light transmission and an ocular lens with a focus that is much faster than the old model. That's not all thought there's more! Other optional features such as a new Ballistic Aiming System reticle and a side-focus parallax adjustment. For many hunters, the Ballistic Aiming System available on some models was well worth the replacement just for that one single feature. This handy little item allows for the windage to be corrected while you're working in a crosswind.

The new VX-III line of Leupold rifle scope is also designed specifically for hunters of different types of prey. For example, if you prefer to varmint hunt, you'll enjoy the fact that Leupold has introduced a reticle specifically for this type of hunting. Named, appropriately enough, as the Varmint Hunter's reticle, this grid is perfect for hunting smaller animals. On the other hand, if you're into hunting medium to large size game, you'll likely be more interested in the Boone & Crockett reticle.

For people who find that most larger magnification scopes have to be mounted too high on the rifle when hunting large game, the Boone & Crockett reticle settles the problem nicely. Even though the objective is only 40mm, it still provides brighter images than many scopes with larger objectives and it allows you to place the scope closer to the barrel of the rifle, eliminating a lot of pesky problems. As you know the closer you can get your face to the scope, the better your accuracy will be.

One of the best features found on the new Leupold scopes is that you can adjust the scope itself so easily. There's no need for any special tools at all - even the old one of digging in your pocket looking for a coin to make the adjustment with. This makes live use of the scope so much easier. So regardless of whether you're hunting for large or small game the new Leupold scopes have something to perfectly fit your requirements.

Unissued Wwi Wwii

((A Chapter story from "To Save the Lopsided Sparrow) (Sequel to: "Cornfield Laughter")) It was funny to Corporal Shannon O'Day to see Leticia shot at close range. There was something strange, almost comic to it-a bullet and all of a sudden an agitated surprise to the mad woman's face, a surprise to find inside of her, in the center of her lair, to see her drop backwards (than catch her balance), next-to watch her go frantic in dizzying circles at some robotic electric impulse, as if she was racing ahead of death itself, inside of her. But the great puzzle was-for the moment anyway-the great puzzle of all was, the thing Shannon O'Day shook his head back and fourth about, and had to...
