The Mint is pure magic. One of our favorite moments of last year was the Verus Music Festival at the Chameleon Club in Lancaster. Just a few short seconds into their song, "1000 Ships," all eyes (and ears) were directed to the stage while The Mint worked its spell over every single person in the club.

This four-piece indie rock band hailing from Lancaster plays music everyone can (and does) love, beautiful songs that speak to the heart.

I read that The Mint is being featured on a compilation CD. Can you tell us about it?

Sure, it's the WXPN "philly local" compilation album. WXPN is on the nation's largest and most respected independent music stations, and to be featured on a compilation of theirs is a huge honor for us.

Is there a story behind the band's name?

Nothing too exciting, it was just the name that stuck after a long conversation about potential band names!

I noticed a few festivals on your tour schedule. What are your experiences with playing festivals? Do you find them to be much different than other shows?

Over the past 5-6 years we've played a number of summer festivals, from Creation Festival, Purple Door, Cornerstone (Illinois), Soulfest (New Hampshire), etc. Our experiences have been mostly positive, and it's a great opportunity to be opened up to a brand new audience who isn't familiar with us or our music. The main difference between a festival and a regular show is that there's more than 200-300 people listening.

Describe one of your best/favorite live experiences.

I would say either one of our Creation Fest shows, or our most recent CD release. Creation was great because there was thousands of people, and they all seemed to be really receptive. The "Love is Vapor" CD release was probably the most personal, because it felt like a whole year of hard work, false starts, and distractions was finally complete, and we had something we could be proud of.

Are you planning on releasing another album or new material soon?

We would love to, but probably not soon. We have a lot of promoting to do for "Love is Vapor".

Any other exciting news or upcoming shows you'd like our readers to know about?

We signed some licensing deals with MTV and the Oxygen network for "Love is Vapor", so in the next year you might here our songs on some of your favorite shows. If you check our schedule we have some upcoming shows that we're pretty excited about as well, looks to be a great summer with the Xpontial Music Fest and Purple Door festival.

Keep an eye (and ear) out for this Lancaster band. They're taking the PA music scene by storm, and soon the rest of the world will follow. Recently, one of their songs, "Pen to Paper" was played during an episode of MTV's Real World Hollywood. The sky's the limit for this band, and we're excited to watch them work their magic over the world. Besides, if the time comes that you have to meet up with a date, you won't want the other person to be expecting something that you are not, right?

2. Make your introductory message in "About Me" section intriguing, unique and positive. Keep honesty and modesty in mind when you state your achievements, nobody likes anyone who boasts or brags to much. This is not the time to be shy with your accomplishments, but you must also refrain from sounding too proud because nobody likes a show off. And be truthful about what you have accomplished and what else you would like to achieve in life. Nobody is going to believe that you won an Oscar's when you're not even an actor, director, or a writer. Remember to just be yourself and let other members know what you are looking for. I'm positive you get my drift by now. And you can also add some of your favorites, like movies, color, music, etc.

3. There are several ways to communicate in millionaire matchmaker dating service, you can do chats, emails, or messaging, all via their system, of course to protect you and your privacy and security. Make sure that you put your contact details in your profile so they know how to contact you.

4. Keep it simple and make sure you use a positive tone, so members will want to get know you. Give statements on what qualities you are looking in an ideal partner. Put in your aspirations in life to make it more interesting, be positive, and be sincere in telling prospective viewers what you can offer your partner. Be always open and honest, when you do this. Frameline34 continues this week with a jam-packed schedule of films, leading up to the closing night screening of "Howl," Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman's feature about Allen Ginsberg. Unless you are new to Warhammer 40k, chances are this has happened to you. When it happens, it can take any number of forms, be it the army no longer grabbing your eye, or that the inspiration that motivated you to begin the army is no longer there.

Other forms include playing and finding out an army is not suited to your play style, for example a Chaos Marine player being too fond of death or glory style assaults might find themselves moving onto an army more expendable troops.

It might simply turn out that you find your army no longer unique, with everyone else collecting it, or worse yet, all of the above.

Certainly this is what happened with my Space Marines, and it is the cost incurred, or rather wasted, that inspired me to write this cautionary tale.

I got into Warhammer 40k through the Dawn of War computer games, and the Dreadnought was my favorite unit in the game, after all what is not cool about a huge robot piloted by an undead hero? So I went with my heart and played Space Marines to use Dreadnoughts.

So that is what I did, collecting Dreadnoughts, building every possible combination that I could, before long I had four, and adding other Space Marine forces made sense, tactical squads, assault squads, even a battle force. But these models, however great they looked (not mine), captured my imagination the way Dreadnoughts did.

Flash-forward a few months and my friend was getting back into Warhammer 40k, starting with the Assault on Black Reach set, collecting Space Marines. Avoiding the same army battle provides the excuse to move onto Chaos Marines, who being the Uber-villains of 40k captured my imagination in a way Space Marines could not. Finding many Space Marine players at my local Games Workshop encouraged this desertion, and it is unlikely I will bother with a Space Marine army again.

This is not to say I am off Space Marines completely, I still think the models look great, in fact there is an unpainted Dreadnought on my shelf right now. Even looking at them in White Dwarf, reading about them in the books, or seeing an army on a website, sets me thinking of what I could do with them. Just last week I got an idea for a White Consul army after reading Dark Creed by Anthony Reynolds, but while I might attempt the odd display piece, if I think about it, I know such army would be lucky to see the tabletop.

So I continue to refrain from buying any more Space Marines, beyond the occasional part for a conversion, or indulging myself with a Dreadnought. As for what I already own, I am selling it to clear space. Hopefully reading this will ensure you never find yourselves in the same position.

Are We There Yet? 3 Easy Tips to Keep You Motivated to Learn German Fluently

Move me momma! Just to jump right in and say it like it is. We all know that there are many different types of motivation, but the type that we are concerned with is intrinsic verses extrinsic motivation. Intrinsic motivation refers to the desire to do something that pleases you and makes you pat yourself on the back. Most studies have shown it to be much more effective in long-term language learning than extrinsic motivation (for an external reward such as impressing the boss or your peers). Unfortunately, most of us are not lucky enough to hire a personal pep squad or self-improvement coach to keep us motivated. Yup, you are going to have to find the power within yourself. It seems that to become fluent in German will take time and perseverance, so how can you stay motivated?

1. Fraternal Twins Separated At Birth

Yes, the process of learning German can be very stressful but keep in mind the cool thing about German is that modern German and modern English both originated from the common Germanic ancestor language and despite their distinct differences, the two languages share many similarities in both vocabulary and grammar. Also, German is spelled phonetically. This means that once you learn the system of sounds, it is easy to predict how the spoken word is written and how the written word is pronounced. Know your German ABCs and you will be better equipped to learn to speak German quickly.

2. Oktoberfest Anyone?

If your ultimate goal is to learn to speak German fluently, then it is important to know that you will become more fluent quickly if you maximize your language exposure. You can start by simply practicing the language with a classmate outside of class. You can befriend native speakers in your community or attend a local foreign language conversation hour, if one exists. Rent a German DVD, or listen to authentic German audio or video online. Or you could attend your local Oktoberfest or plan a trip to attend the world famous Munich Oktoberfest. The first the first Oktoberfest was held on October 12, 1810 and lasted 6 days. The festivities were in honor of the Bavarian Crown Prince Ludwig’s marriage to Princess Therese von Sachsen-Hildburghausen. In Munich the “die Wiesen” (as the locals call it) starts around late September and lasts for sixteen days up to the first Sunday in October. The festival is a vibrant venue where you can eat sauerkraut, drink German beer, practice your German and expose yourself to Bavarian culture.

3. The Gift Of The Gab

Whenever possible, speak German aloud rather than reciting it silently to yourself. Say vocabulary words out loud, read passages in the text aloud, and do pronunciation activities orally. Transferring language from your mind to your mouth is a skill that requires a great deal of practice. And you should practice German actively frequently.

The process of learning German can be very stressful, and the impact of your own positive or negative attitudes can be critical to your learning. Self-motivation is the key to staying on track and achieving fluency. Because German and English have similarities, you have a head start when learning German. Ultimately, to learn to speak German online or otherwise is all about you. Therefore, you must play an active role in your learning by jumping at the opportunities to speak, listen and comprehend German. You'll meet new people, make new friends and most importantly, learn German fluently.
