what's the best survival knife I can get for around a hundred dollars?
keep in mind I work for an ffl dealer so a hundred for me will go a lot further than yours will. I'm going backpacking in Montana so I need something strong.
I like Becker knives for both price and features. I'd suggest you don't go armed with something John Rambo would have been happy with. (You'll just get laughed at behind your back!)
A good survival knife has to be able to: open cans, whittling, build snares, skin and gut game, and fight an enraged grizzly bear after you've missed a lot and run out of bullets! (JK!) I'd recommend a 5 to, no more than, 9 inch blade - No bigger. The blade should have some, 'belly' or curve to it for skinning; and only a minimal guard to protect your hand from slipping when you're all wet or bloody - not a cross-hilt fighting guard - OK!
