Army finds serious lapses at Arlington
The Army ousted the top supervisors of Arlington National Cemetery in the wake of a blistering report that raised questions of the burial ground's management and found that some graves had been mismarked, top officials announced Thursday.

On our last trip to Zurich, Switzerland, my son wanted my husband and me to bring him back an authentic Swiss Army knife. Steve and I shopped until we found the ultimate knife as pictured above and brought it home to Mark.

It was well made, had solid craftsmanship, and was true to its core selling point: it was knife! But it was not just a knife - it was anything from a cork screw to a fingernail file. If you ever owned or examined one of these knives, you may have marveled at its versatility as I did. When I held the knife in my hand and personally opened each implement, I realized the knife was scary!

Thomas Friedman, author of the popular book, The World is Flat, says that 21st Century employees need to be as versatile as a Swiss Army knife - the worldwide icon for function, durability, and ingenuity. Freidman recommends that individuals be well founded in their core identity and well rounded in their ability to respond to many different types of job requirements.

From my experience, individuals tend to be a jack-of-all-trades and master of none or an absolute powerhouse with tunnel vision. Which one rings true to your personality?

The mantra for the past several years has been 'do more with less' so it should come as no surprise that the global marketplace demands us to be true to our core characteristics as the powerhouse of performance yet destroy tunnel vision and master more skills - or resemble a Swiss Army knife.

In a Swiss Army knife, the tunnel vision or core tools are a large blade and a small blade. Then you start with options and can chose paraphernalia from can openers and tweezers to toothpicks and a Phillips screwdriver. Don't forget the pliers with a wire cutter and wire crimper.

Think about your core strengths. Are they in sales and marketing, technology, business management, human resources, research and design, etc.?

Now from the wish list below, put a check by the characteristics that if developed, would make you more functional and add value to your resume. Even a jack-of-all-trades should find something on this list he/she could improve.

Start each sentence with "I am":

__ Committed to providing total quality work

__ Punctual, trustworthy and dependable

__ Competent at managing responsibilities in a high-pressure environment

__ Cooperative with a wide range of personalities

__ Accomplished at gaining trust and winning a customer's confidence

__ A good communicator in both verbal and written communication skills

__ Effective in completing assignments despite changing priorities

__ Good at identifying, analyzing, and solving problems

__ A team player and consistently contribute to team production

__ Resourceful in solving problems and maximizing resources

__ Enthusiastic and optimistic

__ Skilled in handling the public with diplomacy and professionalism

__ Good at adapting to new equipment and technology

__ Capable of organizing workflow, ideas, materials, people

__ Skilled at working with people with diverse backgrounds

__ Excellent as a leader

This list is to get you started thinking about the different skill sets you could develop that would make you more valuable to your organization, as valuable as a Swiss Army knife is to the outdoorsman. When you develop skills in addition to your core strengths, you will find the versatility puts you in a unique echelon of achievers.

Call of Duty Shift Things Back 60 Years With World at War

Call of Duty 5 is set to be released its fifth instalment of their first person war shooter series. In the past, Call of duty has seen action in the Second World War and modern day Iraq, and popularity of the game has spiralled, so will their decision to move back to WWII be a mistake?

This time round, the action takes place in the Pacific and Eastern Europe during the Second World War conflict, and incorporates action between the United States, Japan, the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany.

The environment will take on a more realistic aspect this time, with flammable vehicles meaning exploding trucks and tanks and even more intelligent enemy tactics.

Things begin in the Pacific with your interrogation at the hands of the Japanese, and, just before your demise ensues, you are rescued. With pistol in hand, your journey into Call of Duty 5 begins, fighting your way out toward the jungle in twilight, fighting an enemy the likes of which you have never faced in an online game before.

Initial reviews have been good, with Game Trailer awarding a score of 8.8, while Gamespot also offer a glowing review of the immense attention to detail this instalment provides, with the guerrilla warfare style of fighting by the Japanese who are bound by the Bushido code.

Due for release towards the end of this year, Call of Duty 5 is expected to improve even further upon the last instalment, and the step back to World War II will not please everyone, but with the focus shifting from solely European conflict to Pacific will definitely give the game a new lease of life.

Do you have to have a concealed weapons permit to carry a 12 inch long Ka-Bar (Military knife) concealed?

In the majority of states you would. Check out this list of laws--I think they are fairly current. You can look up your state and then see what the specific law is for that state. But, be careful, some counties have stricter laws than the state.

Military veterans, Navy band, WWII, Coast Guard and more to parade on July 3
Bogalusa’s got one of the biggest and best Fourth of July parades in the region, and this year, because the fourth falls on a Sunday, Independence Day will be celebrated locally on Saturday, July 3.

How to Identify a Fake Navy Seal

The U.S. Navy SEALs are America’s premier naval special operations force. SEAL is the acronym for Sea, Air, and Land and highlights the arenas that SEALs can operate in. Whether the U.S. military needs enemy beach defenses softened up or enemy ships destroyed in a fortified harbor, the SEALs are always prepared to serve with their distinctive capabilities.

It is a fact that the name “Navy SEALs” in itself provides a whole lot of possibilities for a person. There are a lot of people who use the name to proclaim themselves as Navy SEALs in order to trick people into getting employed.

Therefore it is very important that you check the background of a person claiming to be a Navy SEAL. However, there are times when even the most meticulous cross-examination does not tell you whether the person is the real deal or not.

A fake U.S. Navy SEAL will:

Wear Camouflage Clothing Covered with Medals and Tridents

An individual, more so a Navy SEAL, would never advertise the awards or commendations he has received. No Navy SEAL is going to walk around in camouflage clothing with Navy Seal tridents, ribbons and/or patches. A Navy SEAL will always shy away from an “in your face” display of his Navy SEAL credentials.

Not Know His Class Number

There is absolutely no way in the world that a U.S. Navy SEAL is going to forget his class number.

Furthermore, the person will lie to you that he didn’t undergo the training for BUD/S just because he’s quite exceptional. All Navy SEAL aspirants, whatever their level of experience, have to go through the intense BUD/S training. BUD/S is the acronym for Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL. The training involves six months of testing the person’s endurance, strength, and all-round resolve.

Mention Team 6

Every Navy SEAL aspires to be a member of Team 6, which is the elite team within the elite. A real Navy SEAL will never tell you that he was a member of Team 6.

Not Remember the Details

Delicate information about names, places, dates, or other such information are top secret and are usually not revealed or given out but there are certain things about his tour of duty that a real Navy SEAL will be able to tell you. Smell a rat when the person says he cannot tell you anything.

Have Emotional Glorification

A fake Navy SEAL can weave a good emotional story glorifying his valor. He will argue with you that he was taken prisoner and has supposedly gone through some of the most difficult life of being tortured and beaten up for interrogation.

Be a Female

Women are not accepted in the Navy SEALs program. The Congress had imposed a policy that excludes women from active combat duty.

So in a nutshell, you have to know a real SEAL to spot the fake SEAL.

'Samurai' relying on beef liver
GEORGE (South Africa) - BEEF liver in their meals is helping Japan's World Cup squad prepare for matches at high altitude in South Africa.

If you're into sword collecting, Samurai swords will make an amazing addition to your display. Though these collectibles aren't cheap, they can provide years of enjoyment and help you build a valuable collection that can be passed on to your children and theirs.

Samurai swords have been popular among Asian people since the Middle Ages. They typically have a single sharp edge, and in the past were used often in close quarter combat. These were tailored by the most experienced swordsmiths. Swordsmiths used forging and heat treating methods to create high quality swords that were hard enough to retain a sharp edge, but flexible to withstand a direct impact without breaking.

Types

Samurai swords are available in many shapes and sizes. Blade lengths vary as well as the material used for the handle and wrapping. You'll notice hardwood handles, leather wrapping, solid metal guards, etc. that can each add to the look and feel of a sword. Many Samurai blades are made of stainless steel, but you should look for those that have a heat tempered finish. High carbon steel blades are also popular.

Some collectibles to consider are Kill Bill, Last Samurai Japanese Katana, 40-inch Red Kendo Wooden Bokken Practice, Dragon Samurai set, or the handmade practical Musashi Samurai Katana. These are reasonably priced if you buy online, but do offer fine quality and beauty that will enhance your display area.

Tips on Collections

If you're new to collection, first understand that this is not a cheap hobby. Samurai swords and other types can cost anywhere from $20 to $100 each or more (for antiques). Start slow and gradually build your collection. Choose your swords wisely and buy one or two at a time to ensure you're getting what you want for your collection. Buying them online can be beneficial, especially if you live in an area where there are very few stores or dealers that sell collectibles. Many online retailers offer a vast selection at reasonable prices. Just be sure to read reviews and research the sword before buying.

Once you obtain a few, you might consider displaying them in a protective case in your home. This will serve several purposes. One, it will protect your swords from damage and possibly rust (as long as the storage area is kept dry). Two, this protects your family members and guests from harming themselves or others. Children should be kept away except when supervised by an adult. Samurai swords are very sharp! Third, keeping your collection locked in a secure area will protect it from theft if your house is ever burglarized. You'll also want to check with your insurance provider to be sure the collection is protected under your homeowner's policy if stolen or damaged by fire.

As you shop for Samurai swords, you might also consider other types of swords for your collection. Many online stores or collectible shops carry a number of swords, including medieval, fantasy, Japanese, etc. If you're into movie and video game collectibles, you'll find many movie, anime, and video game swords, and even Star Wars light sabers!

If you're not sure where to start, check out online sites offering swords for sale to see if historical information about Samurai swords and others is available. Some sites offer a bit of information about each type offered for sale. You can also speak with other collectors or read collector's magazines. Samurai sword collection is a fine hobby that will amaze all your guests. Use these ideas to find quality swords today!

After all this English team even failed to qualify to the European championship of 2 years ago and it is not that theirs is a much improved side with basically the same over rated players; who once outside of English football are reduced to being average at best.
