Sons Wwii Fighting

A tragedy and disgrace
When soldiers go to war, they must deal with the fact that they might not come home the same way they left -- or come home at all. We, as a nation, need to also accept that reality when we ask our sons and daughters, mothers and fathers, brothers and sisters to fight wars under our flag.

Sanford And Son (Season 4) DVD Review

Nominated for 7 Emmys and 6 Golden Glboes, including Outstanding Comedy Series, Sanford And Son remained one of the top ten rated TV shows every season it aired with the exception of its final season (when it ranked a respectable 27th). Fred loves to hurl sarcastic comments at his sister-in-law Esther, and he often makes stereotypical and prejudice remarks toward Lamont's friend Julio. Manipulating his otherwise ambitious son into staying around to run the junk shop, Fred spends days hanging around the house (he runs a home-based business) and talking with various friends: Melvin, Grady, and Bubba...

The Sanford And Son (Season 4) DVD features a number of hilarious episodes including the season premiere "The Surprise Party" in which Fred returns home following an extended stay in St. Louis (i.e. contract negotiations with the network). Everyone plans a surprise party for Fred, but the celebration goes awry when Fred and Esther pick up where they left off (with their constant fighting). Meanwhile, when Fred eavesdrops on Lamont and Grady, the situation only gets worse... Other notable episodes from Season 4 include "Going Out of Business" in which an accounting error leads to Fred and Lamont owing the government more money than they have, and "The Stand-In" in which Fred and Lamont are forced to stand-in for Fred's musician friend Bowlegs when a member of his band gets injured...

An old-fashioned family vacation in Lake Placid
Lake Placid is that iconic old-fashioned vacation spot that works as well for 21st-century families — and their pooches — as it did a century ago. United States - New York - Lake Placid - Adirondacks - Lake Placid New York

Back to the Old Days of San Diego

The Old Town San Diego State Park is a protected historic park that chronicles the beginnings and the history behind the city of San Diego.  Though San Diego is one of the largest cities in the state of California and in fact the United States, this park takes you back to the days when San Diego was a small Spanish outpost where life went by slowly.  The park preserves the history of the city from the period dating back to the Mexican War of Independence from the period starting in 1821 till the period of American occupation in 1872.

The Old Town Park is located On San Diego Avenue and Twiggs Street in San Diego County a place where life moves slowly and the hustle and bustle of the city seems a long way a way. This was what life was like during the early Spanish days of the area. The historical timeline of the region is as fascinating as the glitzy lights that adorn the busy city today.

In 1542, the Spanish first came to San Diego but did not start a settlement until much later in 1769. Later in the Mexican War of Independence Mexico broke off from its colonial Spanish rulers together with the US state of California. Following the Mexican War and the Bear Flag revolt in 1848 the state was California was annexed by the US and with it came the city of San Diego. What was previously a small Spanish military outpost started burgeoning into a “new town” in 1868. This area is now known as Downtown San Diego and the old town was left mostly abandoned and later turned in to the historical park which we see today.

Visitors to the park can see some of the original buildings that were used during the 1800’s. Among them are the five original adobes which are buildings constructed with brick that was made of sand and clay. The complex also includes a couple of shops, restaurants, a museum and school buildings. Among the historic buildings is San Diego’s first newspaper office known as the San Diego Union Printing Office, Mason Street School which was California first public school, La Casa de Estudillo a historic mansion and La Casa de Machado y Stewart that is a veritable treasure trove of artifacts and historic furniture.

The Old Town San Diego State Park also features a four acre plaza that showcases local artisans and craftsman while also acting as an activity centre where cultural presentations are made for tourists. A number of San Diego hotels can also be found close by, while other hotels in San Diego’s downtown area also offer great entertainment and shopping options.

5 Important Signs Will Show You His Interest

Have you ever met a man who touched your heart, and would like to know how he feels about you? Perhaps you met in a group and did not even get the opportunity to talk with him, although you may have noticed that he recognized your presence. You would like to know whether it was just mere coincidence that he seemed to be watching you, or perhaps you were simply day dreaming. Is it possible for you to know the truth and have peace of mind?

There are 5 important signs that will help you to determine his interest in you. These signs will let you know that he is also trying to find a way of getting closer to you.

1. He talks to another person about you

If you find out that he has been asking around about who you are, or has specifically asked some of your acquaintances that he would like to know you better, this shows that he is interested in you. A guy will hardly ask such things when he is simply casually interested in you. You should also be aware that when he comments about your good qualities to another person, you may actually be the real target, and he hopes the message will find its way to you.

2. His look

As much as he may try to appear neutral, the look of an interested man will betray his true feelings. His eyes will linger for a moment when you 'happen' to look at each other, and you may even notice a faint smile.

3. The way he talks

An interested man will seize the opportunity to get closer to you and strike up a casual conversation. He may ask you a few odd questions, which just prepare the way for the main one - that is, whether you are going out with anyone.

Take note that wearing a ring may ruin your chances before they even begin. This is due to the fact that the man will not be able to distinguish the finger your ring is on when he is not close enough - and hence he may be discouraged from getting any closer.

4. He just happens to drop by

If the man appears out of the blue where you are, there are very slim chances that it's a coincidence. It is more likely that he has taken the effort to know your schedule in order to make him available. Take a closer look at his expression during this 'chance' meeting.

5. You are a likeable character

When people generally take interest in you, it is highly unlikely that he won't be interested as well. You should therefore take the initiative to make yourself interesting when you would like to get the attention of that great guy. Sharpen your good qualities and make them outstanding.

When you have prepared the ground in this way, he will make his approach. When he does, you should make him feel comfortable by being friendly without appearing eager for his company.

How To Save Dodoes Frogs

DODOES have become a sign of extinction. The last of these flightless birds died about 1680 on the island of Mauritius. Many of the species presently at peril live on islands too. In the last 400 living, 85 out of 94 species of birds known to have disappeared have been island birds.

Animals on extensive continents are also in chance of extinction. Consider the tigers that once roamed throughout Russia. Now only the Amur subspecies cadaver in Siberia, and its figures have dwindled to a meager 180 to 200. The tigers of southern China reportedly number only 30 to 80. In Indochina these animals face extinction "within ten days," reports The Times of London. Likewise, in India, home to some two thirds of the world's tigers, authorities costing that these stately creatures could be dead in a decade.

Rhinoceroses and cheetahs are on the decline. Only about the thousand giant pandas are now found in the rowdy. Pine marten was near destroyed in Wales, and red squirrels "may dissolve from mainland England and Wales in the next ten to 20 living," claims The Times. Across the Atlantic in the United States, bats are the most endangered land mammal.

The outlook in the world's heap is no minus bitter. The Atlas of Endangered Species labels aquatic turtles as "perhaps the most endangered group" of sea creatures. Amphibians look to fare better; however, according to New Scientist magazine, 89 species of amphibians have come to be "at attempt of extinction" in the last 25 living. Some 11 percent of the world's bird species face extinction too.

Nevertheless what of minor creatures, such as butterflies? The picture is alike. Over a part of Europe's 400 butterfly species are in threat 19 being threatened by eminent extinction. Britain's large tortoiseshell butterfly together the dodo on the slope of dead species in 1993.

Growing Concern

How many species of creatures become destroyed every year? The answer depends on which authority you ask. Though scientists fight, all accept the actuality that many species are in danger of right extinct. Ecologist Stuart Pimm observes: "The controversy about how quickly we are trailing [species] is fundamentally a meditate about our outlook." He adds: "Over the preceding centuries, we have accelerated the pace of extinction of species far afar the artless speed. Our eminent is poorer as a consequence."

Our world, Earth, is like a house. Some people who riddle about endangered species reading ecology, a period coined in the later part of the 19th century from the Greek word oi'kos, "a house." This arena of pursuit focuses on relationships between living clothes and their environment. The 19th century saw a mounting concern in conservation, heightened no doubt by reports of extinctions. In the United States, this led to the establishment of citizen parks and protected areas that proffer creatures haven. Presently, there are an estimated 8,000 internationally recognized animals protection areas worldwide. Together with a spread 40,000 sites that help retain territory, they constitute nearly 10 percent of the world's land section.

Many afraid people now promote so-called green causes, each through schedule that publish the threats of extinction or those that modestly educate people about the interdependency of life. And since the 1992 Rio Earth Summit, larger awareness of environmental issues commonly characterizes government judgment.

The problem of endangered species is universal and upward. Nevertheless why? Are any attempts to avoid the extinction of species presently successful? And what of the upcoming? How are you tortuous? Our next articles tender answers.

Lee Davenport tells his untold WWII story of the St.-Lo Breakout
Greenwich resident Lee Davenport 's story begins almost exactly 66 years ago, soon after July 20, 1944, a few weeks after the D-Day invasion, when Davenport, as a civilian scientist, was flown from England to Normandy on orders of General Dwight D. Eisenhower . Davenport was on a secret mission to test out a radar targeting system he had "cobbled together" that would direct the dive bombers of ...

Finally deciding on bringing a German shepherd dog to your house is a tough one. An even tougher one is how to choose a healthy German shepherd pup. This is natural among all owners of puppies because we only want what is good for our pup's health. Some little pointers could help in not only selecting but caring for your dog as well, which is only possible through an extensive knowledge of your pet's common diseases.

What diseases would a German shepherd pup contract? How to prevent this or cure this, in case things get worse? Learning more about your dog, that is reading books or pamphlets about them or visiting a trusted vet, will help you not only in caring effectively for your dog but also preventing and resolving some dog health problems. Speaking of vets, you might as well choose one who is not just friendly, but also someone who has holistic view of his profession. The resolving part is actually more costly, so let's concentrate on the prevention part.

First, the causes. Disease in dogs comes largely because of trauma, infection, immune system abnormalities, genetic factors, or degenerative conditions. Knowing about this will then arm you in a later time with knowledge so that, at least, you can trace the roots of the health problem and thus treat it more efficiently. Usually, health problems occur in the bones, joints, muscles, nerves, eyes, ears, teeth, and mouth. Sometimes, it could also get more serious as it is in health issues relating to the digestive tract, heart, and the lungs. We surely don't want to miss out on these because health insurances for your dog are expensive. And of course, we want to save on cash that could have been saved for recreational activities with your dog. Some potential health problems for your dog could include bloating, congenital heart disease, skin disease, hip dysplasia or the abnormal development of the hip joints, and panosteitis or the inflammation of long bones in the legs.

Another pointer to consider is the type of food your dog will really like and at the same time, will be beneficial to their health. Some experts suggest fresh food is actually a good source of nutritive elements for your dog. Fresh chicken or beef, fresh brown rice and oatmeal, and fresh yogurt, eggs, and cottage cheese are just some of the foods definitely not for people only but for your dog as well.

German shepherd dogs too, like us are entitled to eat fresh food. This will certainly receive some disagreement with pet food corporations, but remember that food intake affects health very much as the lack of exercise does. In fact, some vets would even recommend such practice, as fresh food can boost your pet's health. A fresh food diet is better than commercial brand-based diets. If we would just only read the back of dog covers, w would discover that some ingredients like grain and fat and chemical preservatives are certainly not good for growing pups. No wonder, dog owners, and not just German shepherd dogs, seem to just come in and out of vet's offices for physical discomforts like itching, dandruff, face rubbing, etc.

These are just some pointers to note before choosing a German shepherd pup. Sometimes, it takes just more than just a choice to raise a German shepherd dog. It takes knowledge and preparation for you and your family. These dogs, after all, will be part of your family as soon as they step in your doorway.

Kabar Stamped Sheath

Most survival knives will fail. Cold Steel developed their Bushman survival knives with this idea in mind. With a suggested retail value of $29.99, you might not expect much in terms of strength or cutting ability. I recently picked up a Bushman of my own and here are my thoughts: What I like about the Bushman: 1. The blade was razor sharp right out of the box. It is made from SK-5 high carbon steel, which is very tough and holds a good edge. 2. The hollow handle gives you a lot of different possibilities. You can keep matches, lighters or other survival gear in the Bushman's handle. You can also attach the Bushman to a wooden shaft in the wilderness and turn it into a devastating...
