Often a key aspect of choosing a place to live is if the building has a doorman or if there is no doorman. Despite the name of the job, the doorman actually has a more important role than you may think. Key to your decision then is if you think the higher rental you pay is worth the bonuses of having a doorman.

Central to the added extras of having a doorman for your apartment block are the feeling of safety and ease of living they provide. The doorman can be seen as the guardian of your apartment, blocking access to any unwanted visitors. Rather than having open access, the doorman will ensure that only those allowed can get in.

Ease of living is another bonus of having a doorman. They will get a taxi whenever you need it, dash down to grab your mail, and even take a delivery and bring it to your door. If you have a problem with your apartment and cannot be there when the superintendent is coming, the doorman can do this for you. They make everything so much simpler if you have a hectic lifestyle and can't commit to being home at a certain time.

The doorman is the eyes and ears of the whole complex and they are usually so in tune with the pulse of the place that they will be able to sense when something is not right. Having someone around like this is perfect for aged residents, or for people who spend a lot of time away from home. As an extra added bonus, all of these factors will make it easier to sell your place. On the flipside, there are some negative aspects of having a doorman. For starters, it is more expensive. On top of the added rental on your place, you will have to give him tips on all the major holidays, making it even more costly.

As well as extra cost, for some, they do not like it that the doorman will be intimate with their comings and goings. Because of their job, doorman often are privy to sensitive information people may not want others to know of- philandering partners, drunken parties and a host of other private details. Ultimately, when making the decision, you need to work out whether you want someone knowing all these details, whether you can afford it, and whether you need a doorman or not.

No doubt that even if you have screwed up somewhat during the quarter/semester, you still can get a better grade if you ace your final because it makes up the majority of your grade. And probably this is the last resort for you, but anyways, your finals are very important.

In the past, I have so many frustrations when it comes to finals, and it really tires me out every time it hits the end of the quarter/semester. And if the class is not your strong point, you need to read this, I'm going to show you a strategy that probably most students won't even think about.

Because most of their frustrations are the following

1) Don't know where to start

2) Too many materials to cover, very overwhelming

3) Not enough time

4) Mentally overwhelming by the fact that finally is coming

But fortunately, they have avoided procrastination because the idea of finals coming will push them to start studying right away, so we are on a good track here. What we want to do next is to use a very killer strategy that will help us study more effectively than we did before.

But first, let us analyze some of the data we got from the teacher/professor. It's usually the case that he/she will give you an outline of what will be on the test. This is good for you because you'll know how much material is going to be taken from each chapter and how many questions you can expect from them.

In this case, if you have past test and quiz, review them. Mostly likely either it will appear on the test or it will be in similar format. So this is pretty much no brainier. But look more closely, when it's accumulative, and the last few chapters haven't been tested yet. Most likely there will be more questions for the last few chapters, then study those first if you aren't familiar with them.

So you purpose is to figure out what is on the test instead of spending all the time reviewing everything you textbook have and read it word to word, it's just a waste of time if you don't have enough of it.

Also, a lot of students make the mistake of taking extensive notes when studying, and I can tell you it's useless for two reason.

1) Your notes won't make it to test because I doubt your teacher will let you take it in.

2) Even if you are lucky enough that your teacher allows that, you won't have enough time to dig through it in the exam because you will be wasting too much time doing that.

So now what? Maybe it's time for you to do a laser focus session with your textbook?

Now, get your pen and paper ready, let's do something digging. The first thing you want to do is to skim your textbook and found out what you absolutely need to go back to reference to, jot down the page number and the idea in a few words and then keep doing it.

Next is to set a time limit for yourself to understand those ideas or facts as quickly as possible. A 50 minutes session is a good time limit because your brain need some rest afterward. Take some rest and repeat the process until you have finished.

I'm pretty sure you will be dead tired afterward, it's good to take a rest and do the studying later in the week instead of jumping right into it. Your brain will need the time to process the information and store it.

SALEM, Va. - From the stadium you can see the green rolling hills of the Appalachian Mountains. Those mountains often are obscured by clouds and mist, and it's not La Plata County, but hey, it's not bad.

If you are thinking about the purchase of a home reverse osmosis water purification system to eliminate the threat of contaminants in your water, then you might want to reconsider.

These systems are actually not water purifiers at all, as they don't come close to removing all of the harmful substances residing in our reservoirs. They are overpriced, energy consuming, wasteful, and inadequate for your needs.

These systems generally cost far more than most true water purification systems, while doing about a third of the work that these more effective apparatus' do.

They need to be running constantly in order to cleanse your water even to the minimal extent they do, and this can noticeably increase your electric bill. R.O. systems also waste up to five times more water than they cleanse, while other systems waste little if any water.

Aside from having a granular activated carbon filter attached to them, home reverse osmosis systems simply perform a redundant task.

The porous membrane filters these appliances use to "cleanse" your water are designed to remove particulates, and they probably won't even remove the particulates that they encounter. This is because whatever reaches the appliance will be microscopic, and therefore these filters cannot prevent their passage.

The reason that I know this is that these microscopic particulates escaped the demineralization process performed by your local water treatment facility.

There is no need for your system at home to repeat a task that has already been performed before the water is sent out to your home. You want a system that will perform tasks for you that the water treatment facilities were incapable of doing.

The treatment centers also use porous membranes to remove impurities from your water, and they also disinfect the water in order to remove as many parasitic threats as possible.

Membrane filters cannot block the passage of chemical agents, traces of toxic heavy metals, or anything microscopic as noted earlier. The granular activated carbon pre-filter is he only saving grace of a home reverse osmosis system.

This filter is designed to remove as much as 99.99% of the chemical and pharmaceutical contaminants present in your water.

It will not remove the toxic heavy metals that have eluded the filters at the treatment facilities, nor will it remove the disinfectant resistant bacteria likely present in your water.

The system that you use will have to have two additional filters in order to deal with these pollutants.

A home reverse osmosis water filtration system won't provide you with the security of an ion exchange, or a sub micron filter.

An ion exchange attracts heavy metals to it, replaces these substances with sodium and potassium, and keeps your pH levels in perfect balance.

A sub micron filter will intercept the disease bearing parasites in your water, so that the danger of consuming these pathogens is eliminated.

A home reverse osmosis water filter system is obviously something you can do without. Be smart, and install a purification system in your home that meets all of your contaminant removal requirements.
