‘Man vs. Wild’ is my favorite show on TV. Bear Grille, the presenter uses the untamed resources of nature to survive. He goes where nobody dares to go and does things people don’t even dream about doing in their wildest thoughts. I always wanted to be in his shoes (not that he wears any!) My folks knew about my adventurous spirit. They gave me a thumbs-up instantly for going on an adventure tour with my friends during the summer holidays. On one condition though; I must carry with me the Swiss Army Style 12-in-1 Multi Purpose Tool Kit.

Over the next few days Pa taught me the relevance and importance of using various tools in the toolkit and made an expert out of me.

Did I mention that my dad is a nature photographer? Adventure runs in my blood. Five days to go before I embarked upon my first adventure travel. Woo hoo!

Starting with the pen blade Pa taught me how to use it carefully to cut open things. Then came the flat blade knife and the main knife with a 2.5 inch blade. Wow, I felt like a grown-up man! Mom always kept me at bay from such “trouble”. Then Pa taught me how to use the most fabulous tool, the pliers. My amazement grew as he displayed how to use the wire crimper and wire cutter to mould and chop wire. On the third day Pa asked, “You love fish beta, but do you know how to scale and cook it when you have no grub left to eat?” That was when I learnt how to use the hook dislodge for taking off the hook from the fishes’ mouth and the fish scaler to remove the scales.

The screw drivers were easy. However, Pa taught me the difference between a TORX and a Philips and a pointed bit. I felt like a genius and was dying to flaunt it! On the last day Pa flipped open a couple of cola cans with the can opener. “Cheers my boy! You are a pro now!” he remarked with a smile.

I somewhat understood the smile. In teaching me how to use the Swiss Army Style 12-in-1 Multi Purpose Tool Kit, he relished the memories of his early days.
